Work from home? I'll think about it...

Updated: Nov 28, 2020

Why companies are reluctant to allow people to work from home?

Breakdown: Companies are reluctant out of fear; they do not trust their employees. Middle management is caught between servicing the executives and keeping their subordinates happy. oftentimes an inconsistent message by the company will create a false sense of utilization of the perk.

Proposal: An 8-week co-collaborated trial run of remote work based upon duties, technology, and trust.

  • 2 week preparation period between employer and employee

  • Focus on logistical tools, company needs, and employee needs.

  • Communicate on goals, responsibilities, and deliverables for the duration of the trial.

  • Be honest about benefits for both parties

  • Commence the six-week trial; ensuring consistent weekly check ins

  • At the end of 6 weeks start a 2 week recap of the trial period

Impact: The impact of working from home can be beneficial for both sides. Employees are happier, while employers feel they are serving their employees better. As long as there is trust both sides can experience a positive result.
